Two easy ways to personalise your Tradespace

Posted 23 November 2007 at 5:53PM by Ivan Croxford in Tips & tricks

When we launched the new Tradespace site designs on 10 November, we introduced some new features to help you make your Tradespace distinctive and appealing to customers. here's two quick and easy ones:

1. Personalise your template colour: To do this login to your Tradespace manager, then select My business / Site Design and select the colour from the options presented (you may need to scroll down the screen)

Tradespaces look best when the chosen a colour the complements your logo. A couple of good examples are Spottie Dottie and Arena Flowers .

2. Add a tag line that describes your business. This will give customers a quick summary about what you do, and it will be picked up by search engines too.

To add your tag line in Tradespace Manager, simply click the link "Edit tag line" under your business name in the left-hand panel.

There you go, two easy steps that will make your Tradespace stand out!

Thanks

Hi Ivan,
I thought you would be very pleased to hear that after spending 25 hours in 3 days last week re - designing my BT Tradespace and adding lot's of key words, 7 albums and several blogs, the end result being that to date for the month I have had 14,640 visitors to my site with a daily average of 457.50, the numbers are going up every day on Thursday 22nd Nov I had 1156 and yesterday 23rd Nov 1206, so my hard work is starting to pay off. Prior to me doing the change I was getting on average 280 visitors a day.

Hi Ivan,
I have just changed my template colour scheme to Plum from Blue, which has changed on my home page, but not any where else where it is still Blue, Is this correct?

Would it be possible as well to change the blue on the headlines, titles... to make it the same color as the one you choose for the template. Otherwise the blue clashes a lot with the logo, the color chosen if you don't choose BLUE!

Can we if we don't want to have a color get the possibility to have either transparent, white or black(for the template color) and can we choose colour of the writing?

Especially for the Art and design community it is really important that the color scheme is right!

thanks

Hi Ken,

The colour on your Tradespace site should be plum throughout however your Tradespace Manager will always be blue. Tradespace Manager doesn't change according to your Tradespace template colour.

Would be interested to hear if you think this would be a useful change.

Thank you,
Lian

Hi madame_ju,

Thank you for the suggestion.

We are keen to give members the flexibility to make their sites attractive and unique but we need to balance this with making sure all users will find it easy to browse Tradespace.

Blue is the standard colour used for links across the web. Some sites do use other colours for links but that makes it harder for users to determine what is a link as opposed to a heading.

We want users to spend their time looking at your products instead of guessing what is a link!

Thank you,

Hi Ivan,
After having considered your advice about adding Paypal to my site, to day, I did and have come up with a major problem. The site only offers the facility of adding Paypal buttons to items in PRODUCTS & SERVICES and not in PHOTOS where I have some 239 items listed. I changed these all over last week and it took me 25 hours to do it. I stand corrected but I think the Paypal buttons need to be in both and at least in PHOTOS because this is where I would have thought most members would place there items for sale, also the facility for adding key words is in PHOTOS and not in PRODUCTS & SERVICES which I believe should be for information about the company and the services that they offer.

Like me if members have listed their items in PHOTOS and then decide to add Paypal they will also have the same problem if this cannot be changed.

I have sent an email to support explaining this problem to them.

Many thanks & regards Ken - antiques et cetera

Hi Lian,
Thank you for your reply. Regarding my question about the site colour, To me it does not really matter, I just assumed wrongly that the colour would be the same throughout.
