Holiday reading

With the long weekend coming up I'd thought I'd pass on a couple of good reads that are still very much 'on message' for our community.

I've just read April's edition of Wired Magazine and was intrigued by its cover story "The See Through CEO". It's all about how businesses "are sharing secrets with rivals, blogging about products in their pipeline, even admitting to their failures."

According to the article for many companies this 'radical transparency' is making a difference in the market.

It's a good read with strong messages and useful insights about how to use tools such as blogs to engage customers in ways much more meaningfully than the usual marketing blurb.

For those of you with a little more time to kick back over Easter I heartily recommend Robert Scoble and Shel Israel's Naked Conversations.

This book makes a great case for businesses to use social media such as blogs, podcasts and video to have richer conversations with their customers. Lot's of real world examples as case studies. It's compelling stuff and just wait till you get to page 80!

Enjoy the long weekend :-)
