Hello from our new Managing Editor

Hello Tradespacers,

It's a tough life when you're thrust from thriving on hugs from your kids to working five days a week with two kids in tow and have a home and husband to manage. But that's me on a plate. I've just returned from maternity leave (second time round) to be BT Tradespace's new Managing Editor and four weeks in, it's been a pleasure.

A bit about me:
Here are a few fast facts about me (if you're interested, otherwise skip this bit)

•My name is Bian (that's Bee-ann), not Brian misspelt although it could well be because my dad's name is Brian.
•I grew up in India mostly in one room (yes, that's one room) with my family and moved to England ten years ago.
•I'm only 4 feet 11 inches tall but I pack a mean punch... I mean lunch.
•While doing a post grad in Media Studies, I became an 'accidental journalist' when I was asked to cover a last minute story for Rediff.com [India's first portal]. Several applauding emails later, my then Editor whipped me into the world of writing and I haven't looked back since.
•I also worked as Features Editor for Elle Magazine (Indian edition) and was Reviews Editor for the Times Education Supplement's online venture Learnfree.
•I suffer from 'Supermom syndrome' which makes me want to be all things to all people especially my kids. Join the club by visiting my community (I'm still waiting for my first post)
•Finally, I've worked for BT for eight years on everything from BT Openworld to BT.com and the inside scoop is - BT's a great place to work for.

So why BT Tradespace?
Why? Simply because I'm passionate about writing and it's the first time I've got up, close and personal with our customers. Not only are we riding the wave that is the social web, but we - the people behind the brand - have an opportunity to make a real difference by talking (for real) to you and making what we do, better.

Word on the street is I'll be looking at the language and tone we use when we talk to you on and offline. I'd really like BT Tradespace to be a site you feel you can be a part of so, if you think I can help you with anything - from improvements to copy to ideas you have, please let me know in our Ideas for BT Tradespace community.

For now, why not check out some of my favourite places to be on BT Tradespace?
